Crown Graduate Fellowship Recipient

October 1, 2018

Congratulations to Amanda Ruppenthal Stein, the recipient of the 2018-2019 Crown Graduate Fellowship in Jewish Studies. Amanda is a PhD candidate in Musicology in the Bienen School of Music. Her dissertation, "Sounding Judentum: Assimilation, Art Music, and Being Jewish Musically in 19th Century Germany" focuses on expressions of identity in Western art music. This project aims to bridge existing gaps between Jewish musicology and the study of Jewish culture and art more broadly while also contributing to 19th century German music scholarship.
