The Talmud: A Methodological Introduction
Professor Barry Wimpfheimer

Offered by Coursera, one of the world’s leading online education providers. To enroll please visit the Coursera website.

The course is divided into eight modules. Each module consists of 3-5 short video lectures (videos are usually less than ten minutes long) along with downloadable texts and multiple choice quizzes. This MOOC is free to the public, although you can get a certificate for completing the course for a fee. And users are also able to selectively use the course materials by, for example, binge watching the videos without doing the assessments. The course has active discussion forums where users can interact with fellow members of their cohort of students and with the instructors. We look forward to seeing you online!

Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) are free courses produced by various universities for the general public and housed by companies with special platforms specifically designed for this kind of adult distance learning. Northwestern has partnered with Coursera to produce and host many MOOCs.
